We are sitting in the Hilo Airport, waiting for a flight to Honolulu, where we will sit for three hours before boarding another plane, which will fly us directly to Newark, where we will wait for three hours for a plane to Ithaca. A lot of sitting.
Monday was a rainy day in Hilo. I stayed home and worked on my last post most of the day. Some grand plans didn’t make it to the post. Below is a map of the Pu’u O’o trail that I thought about but didn’t include.
I picked Jeff Adams up in the morning to take him to Kona to meet a friend. On the way we stopped for a short walk on the Pu’u O’o Trail. Here is a rough map of our travels…
Jeff Adams and I had a great day in spite of being turned around at the gate of Volcano National Park…
So much for any plans for photographing plants in the park.
Today I left the hotel for the first time in several days. We went down to the Sack N Grab on Kinoole Street for some groceries.
Tim is recovering–slowly. I see to his needs and search for more photographs.

This is how I spent the afternoon, in bed with Odie and the flu.
While Tim has been playing the shakuhachi, touring Hilo, and adding new posts, I have been exploring, taking pictures, and thinking about adding new posts. Our next door neighbor at Dolphin Bay Hotel remarked just yesterday when I commented on the beautiful weather, “Another day in paradise.” I agree. I have alternated days of looking for potential pictures with days of packing up my gear and actually taking the pictures.
Signs of the Ithaca vibes.
