Return to Block Island

We didn’t ride our tandem to get to Block Island. Instead we packed our van with two recumbent tricycles and trailers and cameras and tripods and Shakuhachi flutes and all sorts of things too heavy to carry on a bike trip.

I am a photographer with two areas of interest. I take close-ups of plants—especially seed pods and other remnants left after the plant has flowered. I am also working on a series of photographs of ghost hands, taken wherever I might be with the camera I have with me.

  1. I’m so pleased to hear again of your travels to Block Island. There is some wonderful continuity here that I enjoy. I wonder if Tim is enjoying clam chowder on the way, and Suzy ice cream. There was a wonderful place somewhere in Massachusetts which you recommended, a B&B run by a wonderful gay couple, that Betsy and I stopped at years ago. You will miss the 50th anniversary get together for Phil and Cathy, but will continue to enjoy the riches of your traditional summer retreat. Here, I and my son, daughter-in-law, and their four children, are settling in to the first six months of our new home on west hill. Life goes on.
    With all the best,
    Roni

    1. Roni, We only rode the northern route one time. In later years we didn’t miss the extra miles, but we did miss the Jenkins Inn in Barre, MA. It was a memorable visit! We are sorry to miss the gathering for Phil and Cathy. After our experience today, I hope the weather cooperates:-) Our best to your family in your new home away from the wilds of Slaterville Springs. I’m glad you’re not so far away that we won’t meet once In a while at Greenstar:-) Thanks for the memories of years past. Suzy

    1. Jane and Joe, Sorry we missed you for dinner. Somehow we’ll need to update our lists of favorite series and books! We’re glad to be here. I’d miss it if we didn’t come. Love, Suzy >

  4. I don’t recognize any of these old people – what have you done with Timmy and Suzy??
(thank God you didn’t ride those bikes this year). Have a great vacation. If you see Tim and Sue, remember John and Esther to them. We were college chums, many years ago.

    1. John,
Tim and Suzy picked up these old people somewhere along the path while wandering around the neighborhood in Brooktondale.
Perhaps the young versions are down on Central Chapel Rd celebrating a wedding. If we hear from them we’ll let you know.
      Love to you and Esther,
