Murasaki Reibo

June 16, 2015

Murasaki Reibo or Reihokyoku is a traditional piece from the Myoan Shimpo-Ryo. Although its origin is obscure, tradition identifies the composer as Ikkyu Zenji (1394–1481), the famous Zen master. This version was discovered last year by Kurahashi Yodo Sensei in an old manuscript. It is played here on a 1.8 length shakuhachi.

C’est une shakuhachi, une flûte japonaise, faite de bambou, et sa notation musicale.
